El Control numérico (CN) es un método de control de movimientos de los componentes de una máquina que se realiza
insertando instrucciones alfanuméricas en el sistema. El sistema automáticamente interpreta esas instrucciones y las
convierte en señales de salida. Esas señales controlan varios componentes de la máquina, que hacen, por ejemplo,
mover la pieza o la herramienta a determinados lugares, cambiar las herramientas, etc. En el CN, las instrucciones
incumben todos los aspectos operativos de la máquina, como lugares, velocidades, alimentación, etc., y son guardadas
en cintas magnéticas, cassetes, diskettes o discos rígidos, o papel o plástico. El concepto de CN es que esa información
puede ser relevada desde esos dispositivos al panel de control de la máquina.
